- Mr. xxx, if your budget won’t allow it now, how can your family go on living if the man creating that budget is gone?
- You’re sensible in operating on a budget, Mr. xxx. However, there are three kinds of budgets:- the budget for the family today:- the widow’s budget:- and the old man’s budget. I want to talk to you about the last two budgets. The purpose of a budget is to plan your income in such a way that you can buy the things you need. I am sure you’ll agree that it is of great importance to assure the continuity of this budget, especially when you are no longer here to provide for your family. If your budget doesn’t allow for that, then surely something is wrong with it. It is defeating the very purpose for which it is set up.
- Mr. xxx, then your need for life insurance is even greater. If it takes all your present income to support your family, what will they do if they are deprived entirely of your salary? Put yourself on the credit side of the budget when budgeting your income. Living expenses first. Insurance needs second, and if there is a surplus after that, it can go to entertainment. If you do this, twenty years hence, you will find yourself independent and happy. It is the small surplus that makes the difference between dependence and independence.
